3G: 3rd Cellular Generation in Brazil

This page:Keeps track of the evolution in the number of 3G cellulars in Brazil, and suppliers of 3G networks.

Brazil has 68.3 million 3G mobile accesses in Mar/13

Brazil ended March counting 68.3 million mobile broadband accesses, being:

  • 61.3 million via 3G handsest (WCDMA);
  • 6.9 million broadband terminals (in most of the modens) and
  • 15 thousand via 4G handsets (LTE).

28.6% of the cell phones in Brazil are mobile broadband accesses.

Claro is market share leader in accesses via handsets WCDMA and in M2M terminals*. Vivo leads in broadband data terminals.

Anatel considers as mobile broadband the WCDMA and LTE accesses plus broadband data terminals.

* M2M data terminals aren't classified as mobile broadband accesses by Anatel.
