3G Services
With 3G networks cellular operators can provide Mobile Broad Band by cellular with speed next to 1 Mbit/s.
The connection of a computer (Desktop or Notebook) to the Internet is done using the modem of its own cell phone, one cellular as a PCMCIA plate or a little 3G modem as a size of cellular that connects itself to the computer through USB entrance.
This service is an alternative to Broad Band access to the Internet, competing with ADSL of the fixed telephony operators and Cable Modem of the Cable TV operators.
Mobile Broad Band also has other cell phone services as:
- Entertainment music, games, ...
- Email and access to other corporative services
- Mobile TV
- Mobile banking and payments via cellular.
Revenue Data of the Operators
The main objective of the operators with 3G is to get additional revenues with services not voice. This is a very important situation for operators that work in saturated markets (densities over 70 Cell/100 Inhab.) and try a decrease of revenue with voice services according to the competition.
For some operators, however, the increase of capacity gotten from 3G technologies fit to solve traffic problems in voice services.
The following table presents revenue data with % of revenue services of the main 3G operators in the world in 2006.

SMS is the main component of operators revenue data that use networks of 2G/2.5G. Even though being available by operators, services have to deal with restrictions imposed by the low tax data of these systems. With 3G systems, the users are able to access wireless broad band that change the use of these services.
