Oi purchase Amazônia Celular
In 12/20/2007 was announced the sale of Amazônia Celular to Oi per R$ 120 millions.
Vivo, that had acquired Telemig and Amazônia Celular, gave up Amazônia Celular to Oi per R$ 120 million. With this acquisition Oi is leader in the north region with 37.5% of market share, followed by Tim (33.1%) and Vivo (29.4%). Claro must began to operate in the north region in 2008. Anatel approved the acquisition of Amazônia by Oi in 03/5/08.

Oi operates in the Region composed by 16 States: Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará and Roraima.
Subband Extension
Oi has gotten frequencies in the subbands extension 1800 MHz. Blocks 1,2 and 3 to the State of Rio de Janeiro blocks 1 and 2 to the States of Minas Gerais, Bahia, Pernambuco and Ceará.

Participation of Previ in the control block
24/09/04 Anatel evidenced that Previ had more than 20% of stockhoding in the Oi (Telemar) and Cellular Telemig that it isn't allowed by the regulation. It suspended Previ's control on the two operators, establishing 18 months stated period so that it reduces its stockhoding to less than 20% in one of the two operators.
01/10/04 After Previ's manifestation that opted to reduce its stockhoding in the Oi (Telemar) Anatel suspends Previ's relative interdictions its participation in the control of Amazônia and Cellular Telemig.
