Unicel was the only auction proponent to explore Personal Service Mobile (SMP) in the metropolitan region of São Paulo in 2005.
It was declassified by not having deposited the guarantees. It appealed to Justice in 01/16/07 the licitation comission opened its proposal. In 03/16/07 Unicel was considered qualified. Anatel homologated Unicel as winner in 04/12/2007. Unicel will pay R$ 93.8 million for the authorization.
Anatel authorized the exploration of mobile telephony, in the city of São Paulo and other 63 cities, Unicel of Brasil Telecomunicações Ltda. The Act # 65.595, from June 21st 2007, which forwarded the authorization was published on 06/25/2007, Diário Oficial da União.
To provide SMP, Unicel will need the signature of the Authorization Term along with Anatel.
Unicel will have a stated period of 12 months, since the signature of the authorization term, to initiate service operation. Unicel will implant a GSM network (Band E) having Ericsson as supplier.
Unicel's spokeman Edward Jordan is the president of EBJ Oi Participações in Brazil, that attracted investors from United States for this enterprise.
