Broadband Internet in Brazil
The connections of Broad Band internet available in Brazil are offered by service providers that have Anatel's SCM authorization. It can be classified in:
- ADSL, offered by fixed telephony operators using telephonic cables. Consult tutorial ( in portuguese): ADSL (Speedy, Velox and Turbo)
- Pay TV, offered by Cable TV operators using cable modem or wireless through MMDS operators.
- Others SCM operators that use direct radio connetion to the client or even to the houses where it is spread through local network.
- Providers that offer Broad Band through Satellite.
Wimax is a technology that is being adopted by Operators that offer wireless access. Still there are IP connections dedicated, offered mainly to the corporative market.

TVA (Ajato) had 70 thousand accesses in the 2Q07. Sercomtel and Embratel still have ADSL service. Embratel has ADSL service, (Click21JAH) in Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre.
Broadband Barometer Cisco
Cisco and IDC every quarter analyze the Broad Band market in Brazil. According to Broad Band Barometer, Brazil finished:
- 4Q07 with 7,493 thousand broadband accesses and 602 thousand mobile broadband .
- 3Q07 with 7,019 millions Broad band accesses (ADSL, Cable Modem and Wireless Fixed). Also had 45.7 thousand connectionse IP dedicated and 28.5 thousand satellite and others.
- 2Q07 with 6.54 million Broad Band accesses. We don't know if this number include or not IP dedicated connections.
- 1Q07 with 6,007 thousand Broad Band connections, 77% DSL and 18,9% Cable. Brazil also had 87 thousand dedicated IP connections.
- 2006 with 5,706 thousand Broad Band connections, 78.2% DSL, 17.8% Cable, 3.6% Wirelless (FWA) and 0.4% Satellite. Brazil also had 84 thousand dedicated IP connections.

Other Providers
Broadband Internet is offered by the following providers:
- Providers of radio access, Neovia is the main one which acquired in Nov/05 Directnet. In 2005 it had 35 thousand residential subscribers, more than 1,000 corporative clients and 3,200 spots. Neovia profit in 2005 was R$ 30 millions.
- 3G cellular as Giro (Vésper/Embratel)
- Mixed Solutions with radio or fiber access as ALOL and Planetarium in Minas Gerais.
- Satellite, as Easyband ( StarOne), Ragio and BRATv.
