Cell Phones Production in 2011

 

Cell phone production in Brazil decreased 5.4% in the Dec/11 if compared with the same period last year.

 

Cell phone production in Brazil in 2011 is being bigger than the figures registered in 2010.

Brazilian cell phones production fell 17.1% in the 4Q11 in comparison with 4Q10.

 

Based in IBGE's data, Teleco estimates that cell phone production in Brazil in 2011 was 7.7% smaller than in 2010.

Cell phone production in Brazil decreased -11.9% in 4Q10 if compared with 4Q09.

 

Cell phone production in Brazil in 2010 remained close to what was registered in 2009.

ABINEE's Projection for production in 2009

The cell phone production estimated for 2009 reaches 62 million devices, 17 million of them will be exported and 45 million will be remain in the Brazialian market. From these 45 million, 24.4 million will receive new lines.

 

We can highlight the 32% retration in exportations, in units, of cell phones, in 2009, in comparison with 2008. This fall resulted from administrative policies in Argentina, venezuela and Ecuador, in order to reduce importations.

The cell phone production in Brazil in the 1st semester of 2009 was 41.2% lower than in the same period of 2008. In 3Q09 this percentage reached -8.6%.

 

Despite the result of Oct/09, the trend points out to recovery in cell phone orders from operators and recovery from the global financial crisis.

Cell phone production in 2008

 

The cell phone production in Dec/08 was 60.3% smaller than Dec/07, a sign of the first effects of the global financial crisis in Brazil.

 

In the first semester of 2008, cell phone production was 28.5% bigger than in the first semester of 2007.

In Amazonas, the accumulated production of electronic communication equipments increased 2.7% in comparison with 2007, the highlight were mobile telephony equipments.

 

In the State of São Paulo, the accumulated production of electronic and communication equipments in the period from January to July increased 24.9% in comparison with the same period of 2007, mainly in equipments for mobile telephony. In the third quarter of 2008, the growth was 3.6% if compared with the same period of 2007.

 

ABINEE estimated that the production of cell phones should reach 78 million units in 2008, with a growth of 18% compared to 2007. This production will be 30 million units for the foreign market, (estimate made in Jan/08).

Cell Phones production in 2007

 

As IBGE estimated in 2% the growth of cellular production in 2007 when compared with 2006, It's possible to estimate that the sales prediction in 2007 was 62.9 million and sales for domestic market of 44.9 million.

 

The production of cell phones in the Zona Franca de Manaus decreased 35.7% in 2007.

 

O IBGE will publish the production of 2006 in 2008 and 2007 in 2009.

 

 

 

Prediction of Cell Phones Production in 2006

 

IBGE released in June/08 the production and sales of cell phones in Brazil in 2006, based on information from 9 producers to a Industrial Research - product - 2006.

 

The production sold of 58.6 million of cell phones is below Teleco's estimation (66 million).

 

Based on these information, Teleco reviewed its estimation for cell phones production sold in Brazil in 2007 from 67 million to 63 million.
