Broadband is the Telecom service with the highest growth in 2009

Broadband was the service with the highest growth in accesses and gross revenue in the 1st semester of 2009.

Cellular is the service which has the highest number os accesses and revenue in Brazil. The revenue isn't, however, following the growth pace in accesses. It increased 5.2% in the period 2Q08-2Q09 while the number of cellulars increased 19.9%. Mobile broadband appears as an option for cellulars carriers to accelerate the growth in their revenue.

Fixed telephony presented low growth in the quantity of accesses and revenue. So broadband and Pay TV stand as the service with the highest growth.

Note that in the broadband data it's being considered only fixed broadband accesses and revenue. Mobile broadband might increment thi growth even more.

You could ask:

  • Is broadband the furute star of this market?
  • Can Pay TV also reach the position of a star?
  • When will Fixed Telephony stop being the cash cow?
  • Is cellular becoming a cash cow?
