* population of 10 years old or more which accessed the Internet, at least once, from computer, in some placel (home, work, school, free or paid access place, other people's house or any other placel) 90 days before the interview.

 

Teleco the NIC BTR as source, which carries out annually the research TIC Domicílios as a reference of the quantity of internet users in Brazil since 2006. It counted with interviews in 17.000 urban domiciles in 2008/2007 and 10.500 in 2006. In 2008, 3,000 thousand interviews were given in rural domiciles.

 

For the year of 2005, Teleco adopts the PNAD which searched 480,000 thousand people and 142,5 thousand domiciles pointing out the existence of 32.1 million internet users in 2005 (21% of the population who are 10 years old or older).

Net Adds reach 2.9 million mobile accesses in May/10

According to ComScore's there were 73 million internet users in Brazil in May/10. The universe covered by this survey is bigger than by others, and includes people since 6 year old. From those, 40.7 were active in May 2010, 11.9% of them are between 6 and 14 years old and 56.1% are between 15 and 34 years old.

 

Internet users with access at residence and work place

 

Since May/2009, IBOPE Nielsen Online releases the number of users with internet accesses in the their homes and work place.

IBOPE/Net ratings monitores the number of internet home users in Brazil. The following table presents these datas.

 

The number of active users in Apr/10 reached 28.7 millions (IBOPE Nilesen Online). The next table shows the distribution of users by speed.

According to this research on december 2005 there was 18.9 million users with access in their residences, 12.2 million accessed the Internet on december 2005.
