Internet Providers in Brazil
The Internet access from home or small company are involved two types of service providers:
- Provider of Internet access, is provider of services of additional value, that the function of connect a computer (PC for example) to the internet allowing connection with World Wide Web and access to services as seinding and recieving e-mail.
- Provider of telecommunication service that offers a connection between he house ( or ofice) and the plave where are located the service providers of internet access. This connection could be dialed , offered by the operators of fixed telephony, or Broad Band offered by SCM operators
The following charge presents kinds of providers.

Many companies offer both services. Fixed telephony operators are obliged to
differentiate both kinds of service. Telefonica, for example, offers Speedy to Broad Band connection to the Internet and let the user choose whether or not acquire the access provider to the Internet. In December 2010, by the acquisition of Diveo Broadband Networks Inc., the company consolidated itself as the biggest data and IT infrastructure company controlled by Brazilian companies.
The high number of pageviews is a result of the Brazilian elections for president which got a record number of viewers during the first debate broadcasted (live-stream) through Internet.
The figures registered in 2010 and 2009 are based on IFRS standards.
The number of broadband subscribers overtook the dial up connections in 1Q07. |
