Total of Mobile Subscribers (Dec/09): 174.0 million

Mobile Growth in 2009

Brazil closed 2009 counting 174.0 million mobile accesses and density of 90.6 cell/100 inhab.   Net adds reached 4,2 million mobile accesses in December, being superior than the 3.6 million registered in Dec/08. Net adds over the last 12 months reached 23.3 millions mobile accesses.   This growth is promoted by prepaid which overcame 82.6% in Dec/09.   In Decembro, Rio Grande do Sul became the 5th state to overcome 100 cell/100 inhabitants, reaching 100.5 accesses per 100 inhabitans. In July 2009, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul surpassed the mark, and Braília did so in May 2005.
