242 million mobile accesses in Dec/11

According to Anatel's data, Brazil ended December/11 with 242.2 million mobile accesses and density of 123.87 cell./100 inhab.   The net adds of December (6.1 million) surpassed again the values gotten in same same month last year (5.4 million). In 2011 the total net adds reached 39.3 million net adds and 38.5 million in the last 12 months.

GSM participation in the total of accesses reached the maximum of 90.16% in Nov/09 and, after that, it started fo fall. The drop in the participation happens because the number of GSM cell phones is increasing less then the number of WCDMA. WCDMA overtook CDMA in Feb/10.
