Cantv is Venezuela's main telephony operator: cellular, fixed and internet.

 

On Feb/07 Venezuela's government acquired 28.5% of vote capital from CANTV which were owned by Verizon (US) for US$ 572 million. This stake of Verizon with CANTV was negotiated with America Móvil which agreeded to pay US$ 676 million.

 

On 04/09/07 Venezuela goverernment launched Public Acquisition Offer (OPA) to buy CANTV capital, which would be state company.
