Digicel

 

Digicel, since 2001 in Caribbean, is the cellular operator of biggest growth in the region. It operates in 22 markets being 20 in Caribbean, beyond Guyana Suriname and El Salvador.

 

In 1Q09, Digicel reached revenue of U$ 1.72 billions, and Ebitda margin of 40%.

 

With recent launches in Honduras (Nov/2008) and Panama (Dec/2008), reached more than 1.1 million suscribers in less than five months.

 

Digicel closed 2007 with more than US$ 1.9 billion in investments in region of Suriname, Guyana and El Salvador.

 

In Octuber 2007, Digicel announcrd the launch of mobile broadband service, through WiMax technology, offering data and voice services.

 

Ended 2006 with more than 4 million cell phones, 1 million of these cell phones in Haiti.

 

In October 2006, Digicel acquired Guyana Cel*Star UMobile

 

In Sept/06 Digicel got Digicel Holding Ltda. (other company, even though, with the same name) that operated in El Salvador and had license to operate in Guatemale.
