Hutchinson Whampoa Limited (HWL) is an international group with headquarters in Hong Kong and operation in many business areas.

 

HWL's operations in telecommunication occurs mainly in cellphone area through:

  • Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited (HTIL) which attends markets as Hong Kong and Macau, India, Israel, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Indonesia and Vietnam. The HTIL's stake in Hutch Essar of India was sold in Frebueary/07 to Vodafone for US$ 11,1 Billions. In December/07, orascom sold its stake in HTIL
  • 3 Group (H3G) which gathers operations in 3G and UMTS (WCDMA/HSDPA) technology of Hutchinson Whampoa in Australia and European countries.

H3G acquired its first 3G licence in United Kingdom (UK) in 2000. It has operations in 3G (WCDMA) in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Irland, Italy, Norway, Unite kingdom and Sweden.
