The technology adopted by the operators in Korea, with Government support, is CDMA, SK, and KT they have network with CDMA 1xEV-DO since 2002 and with WCDMA since 2004. In May 2006, SK began HSDPA services.

In the korean market there are barriers to the users don't change operator. The government limit the competition between operators Prohibiting the subsidy of cell phone terminals establishing rules to service plans.
