Number Portability in Brazil
In this page: Information about Number Portability in Brazil. |
Number Portability
Through Number Portability it's possible to keep a telephone number while changing operator in the same local area, since the operator provides the same service, in other words:
- cellular operator in the same local area (same area code);
- telephony fixed operator in the same local area;
- address in the same local area (this kind of portability is already offered by many operators).
The main characterists of Brazilian number portability are:
- The portability, switching operator but keeping the number, will cost R$ 4,00 for users, charged (only once) during the change. Some operators will subsidize this value;
- The request for portability must to be made by the users to their new operator and it can be reffused only in case of incorrect information or if there's another request being carried on. Costumers can use portability as many times they want;
- With portability, it's the end of the contract releationship between users and their former operators, however, it doesn't free costumers from paying fines for contract cancellation, if they have a contract for 12 months service;
- The deadline to effectuate portability was set in 3 days since users' request. In 03/12/2010 (the number should be ported in 5 days). The period of transitions (in which the client has no service) must to last for 2 hours in 99% of the cases;
