According to GVT, which is present in 1,4% of Brazil, the company is being benefited by number portability, In GVT's area of operation the company reaches 36% of all ported numbers in fixed telephony, In Area Code 71, where GVT operates since September 2008, this index achieves 67%.

In Paraná and Brasília, the number of activations in GVT's net reached 61%. In some cities such as Belo Horizonte, Contagem and Betim - the proportion is 24 new clients for each one that leaves the company.

The difference between the number of requests and the number of effectuations, in all the period since September 1st 2008, may be shared and quantified as the following:

From 936,096 requests registered in ABR Telecom's data base, until midnight of April 2nd, 628,685 (67.2%) users had already been benefited exchanging operators;

75,949 (8.1%) requests were ready to migrate, waiting only for the date scheduled by the client;

10,143 (1.0%) requests are in process, in the period of five days regulated for the migration;

122,093 (13.1%) requests were cancelled by the client himself;

99,226 (10.6%) requests were interrupted. ABR Telecom emphasizes that the main reason for interruption is the differences between the data given by the client to the new operator, and the information held by the current operator.

In four months of Brazilian number portability, 180,144 mobile and fixed telephony users requested to change their operator but keeping the phone number. From them, 119,143 users had already their phone numbers ported according to ABR Telecom, entity which manages the service. In this period, about 1,500 requests were carried out daily in the Area Codes where the service is already available.

Until the moment, the service is avaible in 30 DDDs (2,862 citties), which serve more than 60 million telephony users in Brazil. There are still seven phases to conclude number portability in Brazil, those will be between January and March in this year. In January 8th (thrusday), portability will be available in other four states.

The % of ported cellulars in September was small in comparison with the cellulars net adds in each Area Code, The Area Codes 37 (6.35%), 43 (4.2%) and 62 (3.9%) presented the biggest percentages.

Considering the share variation of nets adds of the cellulars operators in Sept/08 in these areas codes we have:

• Vivo was the operator holding biggest loss, mainly in the area codes 37, 62 and 67;
• Claro got the best results, increasing its share in areas codes 14, 17, 62, 67 and 86;
• Sercomtel was affected.

For BrT, the impact of number portability in Sept/08 in area codes 62 (Goiás), 67 (Mato Grosso dos Sul) and 43 (Paraná) represented a loss of 2.7 thousand clients in the fixed telephony and a gain of 360 clients in mobile telephony.

GVT declared that the sales results in three cities with portability, in which the company operated in Sept/08, were bigger in 45% when compared with the period before portability (Aug/08).
