Qualcomm's new quad-core processor with speed that goes until 2.5 GHz, Snapdragon APQ8064 (Krait), announced in Feb/11 is likely to be available in the beginning of 2012.
ARM Cortex–A15 processor is also expected for 2012 in versions: single and dual-core. The quad-core version is likely to reach market in 2013. NVDIA, Samsung, ST-Ericsson and Texas Instruments already have the license to use Cortex-A15 in their handsets
In the future, Intel may enter in the competition of processors for tablets and smartphone. The company presented on 13th September its processor for mobile devices, called Medfield. It may be lacunhed in the beginning of 2012.
This is the future for mobile devices, even so one question remains: Will batteries follow the unstoppable evolution of processing power.
