5G commercial operations in Brazil

Claro

Claro launched the first 5G commercial operation in Brazil at an event held in Jul/20 at Allianz Parque. The network started to be available in areas with higher traffic demand, first in the capitals of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Since October, Claro is expanding coverage to more cities.

 

TIM

On June 30, 2021, TIM announced the activation of the 5G DSS networks in the Northeast: Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE) and Salvador (BA). By the end of 2021, the operator intends to activate the 5G DSS networks in Belém (PA), Belo Horizonte (MG) and Florianópolis (SC).

 

Vivo

Vivo announced in Jul/20 that it would activate its 5G network using DSS in eight Brazilian capitals: São Paulo, Salvador, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Goiânia, Curitiba and Belo Horizonte.

 

Algar

En Dec/2021 Algar launched 5G service in neighborhoods of Uberlândia and Uberaba (both in the state of Minas Gerais) and Franca (state of São Paulo). Algar is operating in the 2.3 GHZ frequency band, becoming the first operator of the country to launch services to client through the frequency acquired in Anatel's auction carried out in Nov/21.
