Submarine Cables, Norte Conectado and more

Eduardo Tude

  • The arrival of new submarine cables with greater capacities due to technological advances has caused a drop in prices on the connection between São Paulo and Miami.
  • The same occurred in Tabatinga (Amazonas) by the arrival of a river cable from Peru and may become more pronounced when the river cable of the Norte Conectado Program that EAF has just launched comes into operation.
  • The drop in prices and the consequent increase in internet density in a municipality is strongly dependent on the existence of high-speed connections and Internet Backbone offered competitively by several providers, as is the case of the Norte Conectado Program.

More Highlights

  • Brisanet reported net additions of 38 thousand cell phones and 15 thousand new fixed broadband accesses in January.
  • Vinícius Caram will be the rapporteur of the new General Competition Targets Plan (PGMC) that will be discussed by Anatel's Council.
