5G

  • Brisanet started commercializing 4G/5G mobile services in Pereiro, in the state of Ceará, where the company is headquartered, and in São Miguel, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, using the 2.3 GHz band. It intends to extend this service to 40 municipalities until December 2023 and add the FWA offer in 2 to 3 months.
  • It will offer a Gigabyte cheaper than the competition in a control and postpaid plan with prices starting at R$ 29.90/month.
  • Anatel may release the 3.5 GHz band in over 100 cities this week.

More highlights

  • Anatel's Board of Directors postponed to September 1st the meeting that will evaluate the RAN Sharing agreement signed between Winity and Vivo.
  • The TCU postponed for 60 days the decision regarding the date of expiry of the mandate of Baigorri, president of Anatel. The rapporteur voted for the term to end on October 28, 2024, and not in 2026, which would apply if it were considered that his term began when he assumed the presidency and not when he was elected councilor.
  • There were 1,377 million fixed broadband accesses worldwide in 1Q23, 1.59% more than in 1Q22. (PointTopic)
  • About a dozen driverless taxis (Robotaxis) caused a traffic jam in San Francisco, due to an overload on the city's mobile networks caused by the Outside Lands music festival, which featured the Foo Fighters and other bands. This episode is an example of the need for private networks for services like this.
