Telefonica is the biggest Telecommunication group in Brazil with gross revenue of R$ 31 billions in the accumulated of the 9 first months of 2007.

Telefonica's revenue leadership would remain even if only 50% of the revenue from Vivo were consolidated in the Telefonica's group. In this case its gross revenue in the first nine months of 2007 fall to $ 23.4 billion but would still be higher than Claro's group ($ 20.8 Billion)
In 2007, the group of Claro / Embratel / Net surpassed Oi and Tim overcame Brasil Telecom, which represented a change compared to 2006.
This situation should remain stable in 2008. The greatest threat to the leadership of Telefonica would be a possible joint venture of Oi with BrT. Yet it still maintained the lead in sales with a small margin.
Telefonica also leads in cell phones and Broadband. Oi leads in fixed phones and the group of Claro / Embratel / Net on Pay TV.

Embratel also leads in national long distance with 24.34% of the minutes charged in the accumulated of the year until Oct/07 (more details).
The four biggest telecommunication groups in Brazil are also the biggest in Latin America although the market is more focused in the two biggest groups.
