Tim and Oi kept changing the leadership in net adds in the first 4 months of the year. In May, however, this trend is reversed with Vivo and Claro, overcoming the others. Claro and Vivo, which have aggressive offers of equipments in their promotions, has had more success in months with dates like Christmas, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day (more details).

With this result Vivo won the leadership in net additions in 2Q08.

The decrease of Tim's performance in the 2Q08, has made its advantage over Claro to decrease to 716 thousand cell phones in June/08.

Despite the growth of these operators, Oi and BrT were the only ones to have gained market share in 2008.
