Oi, Vivo and NET are Market Share leaders in Brazil

Oi (Fixed Telephony and Broadband), Vivo (Cellular) and NET (Pay TV) area the leaders of the main telecommunication services in Brazil.

Note: 2Q09

Fixed Telephony and Pay TV are services in which the leaders (Oi and NET) presented market share superior than 50% and difference of more than 20 percentage points in comparison with the companies in the second position of the rankings. These are the most concentrated markets, reaching about 80% of the accesses for both companies.

This concentration was already bigger in fixed telephony. Oi and Telefonica are losing market share for CLECs companies (Embratel and GVT).

In Pay TV, NET has increased its market share through acquisitions, surpassing 50% in 2009.

Oi and Telefonica have also lost market share in broadband accesses, by the growth of NER and GVT.

The competition is fierce in cellular, in which the difference between the 1st and 4th positions in market share dropped from 11.9% in 1Q08 to 8.1% in 2Q09.
