In 3Q10, Vivo leads in four indicators, Tim in two and Oi in one

The third quarter of 2010 (3Q10) showed a more balance between operators with Vivo losing the leadership in quality for Tim. Even so, Vivo continues to lead in 4 of the 7 indicators selected by Teleco.
Tim led in two indicators (Quality and Growth) and Oi in one (Profitability).

Since 2007, Teleco keeps track of mobile operators' performance in Brazil which is measured through these 7 indicators. The following presents the results for each one of these indicators.
Market Share: Vivo leads and Tim gets near to Claro in 3Q10
Vivo, the biggest cellular operator in Brazil, ended 3Q10 counting 57.7 million mobile accesses and market share reaching 30.1%, with fall of 0.09 percentage points (p.p.) in the quarter.

In 3Q10, Tim gained 0.52 p.p. in market share and Claro 0.14 p.p.. Oi lost 0.57 p.p. and started to present market share than 20%.

Growth: Tim leads in 3Q10
Tim kept the net adds leadership in 3Q10, overtaking Vivo and Claro. By this result, de difference between Claro and Tim dropped to 1.8 million mobile accesses.

Vivo continues to lead the net adds accumulated in the year with 6.0 million, followed by Tim with 5.8 million.
In 3Q10, Oi continued to show lower net adds if compared with other operators even inside the state of São Paulo where the company presented net adds of 87 thousand mobile accesses in the quarter.
Net Revenue: Vivo amplifies it advantage over Tim
Vivo amplified its leadership in net revenue over Tim (second in net revenue ranking).

The net data revenue was responsible for great part of Vivo's revenue growth which reached R$ 843 million in 3Q10 with 61.4% growth over 3Q09. Data revenue already represents 19.6% of Vivo net service revenue. For Tim, voice is still the main responsible for the revenue growth.
ARPU: Vivo keeps the leadership in 3Q10
The data revenue growth, stimulated by investments in 3G, helped Vivo to keep the ARPU leadership.

Tim, which is growing mainly in prepaid market, showed drop in ARPU, but the company is leader in quantity of minutes used monthly per user (MOU).

Profitability: Oi leads in EBITDA Margin
Again, Oi mobile led profitability holding superior EBITDA margin if compared with other operators. Vivo presented the biggest growth in its EBITDA margin reaching 33.4% in the quarter.

Oi mobile's EBITDA margin (35.4%) got very close to Oi Group's (37.0%).
Quality: Tim reaches the leadership
Tim conquered the quality leadership by reaching Anatel's targets surpassing Vivo which was the leader since the beginning of 2008.

Despite being overtaken by Tim in quality, Vivo's performance was better in Anatel's data about complaints and IDA.
Coverage: Vivo keeps the leadership
Vivo kept the coverage leadership with 90.0% of covered population, despite of being threatened by Claro. Vivo covers more cities.
