Difference between Claro and TIM falls to 427 thousand mobile accesses in Jan/11
TIM led mobile growth in Brazil for the 6th consecutive month and decreased the difference, which separates the company from Claro, to 427 thousand mobile accesses in Jan/11. It confirms the trend projected by Teleco that TIM would overtake Claro in cellular market share in the first semester of 2011 (1Q11).

In Jan/11, the operators kept the same strategies seen in the previous months, with TIM and Oi increasing mainly in prepaid and Vivo and Claro doing the same in postpaid.

Note: Oi reviewed, inside Anatel's system, the quantity of mobile accesses in December 2010 reducing the company's total and consequently the total of Brazilian accesses in 386 thousand. By this change, the total of Oi's net adds in Dec/10 would drop from 993 thousand mobile accesses to 607 thousand and the net adds registered in Jan/11 would increase from 280 thousand to 666 thousand accesses, We kept, in this commentary, the numbers originally reported by Oi about Dec/10.
TIM leads prepaid net adds inside the regions I and II, while Oi continues to conquer most part of the prepaid net adds in region III (São Paulo).
