Telefonica is the biggest Telecom group in Brazil

 

The six biggest Telecom groups in Brazil answer for 94% of the Brazilian Telecom net revenue in 2010.

 

 

Note: América Móvil group formed by Embratel, Claro and Net. Telefonica includes Vivo. Among other groups, are also included SKY, CTBC, Sercomtel and smaller operators.

 

 

Telefonica/Vivo group presented the biggest billing in 2010 with gross revenue of R$ 47.1 billion in net revenue of R$ 33.9 billion.

 

Oi group was the only one to show reduction in net revenue in 2010. GVT and Nextel presented the biggest growth.

 

 

 

 

Vivo is the market share leader in mobile telephony, Oi leads fixed telephony and broadband and América Móvil is first in pay TV.

 

 

 

 

When we consider the concept of Revenue Generating Unit (RGU) in which are added the accesses in many service types, the market share leader is Vivo.

 

 

 

 

GVT showed the biggest growth in RGUs in 2010 (59.7%), followed by Nextel (33.7%), TIM (24.1%), América Móvil (17.4%) and Telefonica (14.0%). Oi presented the smallest growth (3.4%).

 

Besides the growth in revenue (with exception of Oi) and in accesses, all the Telecom groups in Brazil presented also results positive results in 2010.

 

Telefonica's group showed the biggest net profit in 2010 (R$ 4.3 billion), followed by TIM (R$2.2 billion) and by Oi (R$1.75 billion). América Móvil and Nextel didn't informe it.

 

GVT, which showed net profit of R$ 373 million in 2010, led in EBITDA margin.
