Tim leads growth in April and reduces the difference to Claro
Anatel's preliminary data indicates that TIM led cellular growth in Brazil in April with net adds reaching 880 thousand mobile accesses.

By this result, the difference between TIM and Claro fell to 221 thousand mobile accesses.

The competition between Claro and TIM for the second position in market share is motivating cellular growth in Brazil in 2011. Net adds reached 2.1 million mobile accesses and registered a new record for the month, accumulating 9.6 million net adds in the last four months and 31.8 million mobile accesses along the last 12 months.
Claro and Vivo presented a more stable participation in the total of net adds in the month (20 to 27%) while TIM and Oi had an unstable performance.

TIM leads net adds accumulated along the year (2.7 million mobile accesses) followed by Vivo, Claro and Oi nearly tied with 2.3 million.

Vivo led growth in mobile broadband net adds in April, but was overtaken by TIM in data terminals net adds.

In April, the remaining TDMA mobile accesses stopped to operate and the CDMA cellular base dropped to 3.1 million. Vivo plans to stop operating its CDMA base in the second semester.
