Tim leads growth in 2011 and reaches Claro in market share
Brazil has record growth in the first semester
Anatel's preliminary data indicate that Brazil ended the first semester of 2011 counting 217.3 million mobile accesses and density of 111.6 cell./100 inhab.. The net adds accumulated along the first semester of 2011 reach 14.4 million de cellulars establishing a new record for the period.
The competition between TIM and Claro for the 2nd position in Brazilian cellular market share stimulates growth. Both operators that gained market share in 2011 and ended the first semester as tied, with 25.55% of the total of mobile accesses operating in Brazil.

The difference between these two carriers fell from 610 thousand in Dec/10 to 9.5 thousand in Jun/11.

According to Anatel's preliminary data, TIM led growth in Jun/11 holding net adds of 1,036 thousands mobile accesses, followed by Claro (790 thousand) and Vivo (668 thousand).
These results confirm the trend that Claro will be overtaken by TIM in mobile market share until the end of the year.
TIM leads cellular growth in 2011, with net adds reaching 4.5 million mobile accesses in the first 6 months of the year, followed by Claro (3.9 million) and Vivo (3.8 million).

Oi, that had led mobile growth in 1Q11 (2.2 million) presented low performance in 2Q11 with net adds of 67 thousand mobile accesses. In Jun/11 the company had negative net adds (-165 thousand accesses).
