Vivo leads cellular growth in November; Which carrier will lead Christmas?

Vivo led cellular growth of November by holding net adds of 1.4 million mobile accesses, increasing to 1.8 million accesses its advantage over TIM inside prepaid segment.

TIM, took advantage of the 27.8% drop in Vivo's postpaid net adds over October, to become the leader in postpaid net adds of November.

By this result, Vivo remains in the leadership for two consecutive months and turned out to be one of the favorites to win the competition for the leadership in December net adds, Christmas month.

The fight promises to be fierce. TIM leads Christmas' net adds in 2010 and Vivo led it in the three previous years (2007 to 2009). In 2011, both operators have good handsets offers, what is essential for good performance in Christmas period.

Claro can always be a surprise at Christmas time, but it's more likely to take this period to finish the cleaning that was being promoted in its base during the last months.

Since August, Oi shows significative net adds but those were inferior to TIM's and Vivo's.

Even if Vivo gets to lead Christmas' net adds, it's going to be difficult to take TIM out of the leadership in net adds along the year.

Brazil ended Nov/11 with 236 million mobile accesses and its net adds accumulated in the last 12 months reached 38.5 million cellulars.
