TIM leads net adds, but Oi is the one that makes the difference
Brazil continued to present strong cellular with net adds of 40.4 million mobile accesses and growth of 19% in the last 12 months.
April's net adds in 2012 (2.2 million accesses) overtook again the number registered in Apr/11 (2.1 million).
TIM led net adds (800 thousand), but the operator in the second position, Oi, was the only that didn't show drop in net adds in comparison to the previous month.

The fall in net adds in comparison with March was already expected. April held the smallest net adds in 2011 and this performance can be repeated in 2012.

It didn't happened with Oi due to the improvement in prepaid net adds presented by the operator, mainly inside former BrT's Region II.
Prepaid
Oi remained in the fourth position in prepaid net adds, nut in the same level as Vivo and Claro.

TIM can take from Vivo the leadership in this segment in May.
Postpaid
Oi led for the second consecutive month postpaid net adds, which meets the carrier's new strategic plan that aims to reach market share of 25% inside this segment in 2015. Oi's postpaid market share increased from 12.95% in Dec/11 to 13.83% in Apr/12.

Claro's low performance in postpaid calls attention and can indicate that the operator continues in the process of cleaning its base.
By this result, Vivo and Oi are tied in postpaid net adds (664 thousand) in the accumulated of the four first months of the year.
In the regional competition, TIM conquered the leadership in cellular market share in the state of Ceará from Oi and in the metropolitan region of São Paulo (area code 11) from Vivo. On the other hand Vivo, was first in area code 64 (Rio Verde - state of Goiás) from Claro.
