Claro leads mobile broadband accesses in Brazil

To evaluate the leaders in mobile broadband in Brazil, Teleco selected indicators, that will be analyzed in the following.

Mobile broadband: Claro reaches the leadership
Claro overtook Vivo in 2Q12 and resumed the leadership in mobile broadband in Brazil, lost to Vivo in 1Q12. Contributed for this result, the revision promoted by Claro inside its data terminals base which drove the operator to the leadership in this segment.
According to Anatel's defnition, the number of mobile broadband accesses is gotten counting the number of 3G accesses via 3G handsets plus data terminals (Broadband and M2M).
The survey done by Teleco for the Huawei Whitepaper, which was carried out in five Brazilian capital cities, pointed that 79% of those who have 3G cell phones are used to access Internet (more details).
3G Handsets: Claro kept the leadership
Claro continues to be the leader in 3G handsets holding 32.2% of market share in Jul/12, but started to be threatened by TIM (31.1%).
26.2% of Claro's accesses via handsets are 3G 26.2%, against 22.4% counted by TIM and 18.4% by Vivo.
Market Share of Data Terminals: Claro became the leader
Claro is the market share leader in data terminals with 36.4% of m. share in Jul/12. The leadership was conquered with a revision of the criteria to count data terminals, incorporating then M2M terminals, segment in which the carrier is the leader.

Vivo continues to lead in broadband terminals (3G modems).
Data Revenue: Vivo
Vivo's the leader in data net revenue holding R$ 1.4 billion in 2Q12. Claro and Oi don't report this indicator.
