Oi leads the postpaid growth in Brazil in 2012
Brazil ended July/12 counting 47.5 million postpaid mobile accesses, the number is superior to the number of fixed telephones in the country (43.4 million) and to the total of cellulars in countries like Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.
Postpaid increased 7.7% in the first seven months of 2012, more than prepaid (5.4%).
Oi led growth by holding net adds of 1.3 million, overtaking Vivo (1.2 million).

By this result, Oi recovered part of the market share lost inside this segment in the last two years. The target of the carrier is to hit market share of 25% in 2015. Vivo kept market share in 36.6%.

TIM showed small market share gain and Claro was the only one, from the four operators, to lose market share. Its worse performance occurred inside the Region I, where the company presented negative net adds in the first seven months of 2012 in states like Rio de Janeiro (-42 thousand), Minas Gerais (-40 thousand) and Bahia (-30 thousand).

Vivo is postpaid leader in 15 from the 26 states (plus the capital, Brasília), losing this position in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, Brasília, Tocantins, Rondônia, Maranhão and in 6 Northeast states, where the company started to operate recently. 3G, coverage and quality have been the different points that have led Vivo to the top of growth inside this segment.
