TIM continues to be unbeatable in Prepaid

After representing reduction in its cellular base in July, affected by the punishment applied by Anatel, TIM returned to the leadership in net adds in August.

TIM's net adds of 724 thousand mobile accesses in the month correspond to more than the double of the net adds gotten by Oi (308 thousand) and Vivo (306 thousand).

TIM showed that continues to be unbeatable in prepaid, having conquered 75.7% of the net adds inside this segment in August.

By this result, TIM recovered the market share leadership in prepaid, which had lost in the previous month to Vivo.

The mobile carriers that showed big variations in prepaid month net adds in the last three months:

Not only the punishment applied by Anatel contributed for these variations, but also the fact that operators are cleaning their base, as an example, Oi and Claro cleaned their base for São Paulo in July and August respectively.

Brazil ended July counting 257.9 million cellulars and density of 131.2 cell./100 inhab. Net adds of 1.49 million subscribers in the month were bigger than the ones registered in the two previous months, but inferior to August's 2011 (3.7 million).

Prepaid has been the main responsible for the drop in cellular net adds. Postpaid net adds surpassed prepaid's in the last two months.

The net additions accumulated in the last twelve months reached 33.9 million mobile accesses in August, indicating that 2012 may present net adds smaller than the 34 million projected by Teleco in the beginning of the year.
