Oi was the only operator to show equilibrium between net adds in postpaid (205 thousand) and in prepaid (207 thousand) in September.
Vivo led postpaid net adds (319 thousand), but presented negative net adds (-0.5 thousand) in prepaid. Vivo's negative net adds inside the state of Rio de Janeiro (-56 thousand), Bahia (-38 thousand), Ceará (-30 thousand) and Rio Grande do Norte (-20 thousand) contributed for the negative result in prepaid.

Claro, led prepaid net adds (207 thousand), but continued to show low performance in postpaid holding net adds of 19 thousand mobile accesses inside this segment. Claro's performance in prepaid could have been better, if there wasn't negative net adds of -143 thousand prepaid subscribers inside the state of São Paulo.
Net adds of -100 thousand postpaid cellulars (-82 thousand inside the states of São Paulo) were responsible for the low growth presented by TIM in September. Despite of this result, TIM recovered the leadership in the total of mobile subscribers in Pernambuco, which had lost for Oi.

The constancy in which operators have presented negative net adds in some local areas makes harder to attribute these reductions to a possible cleaning in the base. High churn and differences in strategy for regional sales give a better explanation for the results.
Brazil ended September counting 258.9 million mobile accesses and density of 131.6 cell./100 inhab.
Net adds of 960 thousand accesses in the month were inferior when compared with the value registered in Sep/11 (3.3 million) and confirm the trend of drop cellular growth in Brazil observed in the previous month (more details).
Prepaid continues to be the main responsible for the drop in cellular net adds in the month in Brazil.
