Telefônica and América Móvil are the biggest Telecom Groups in Latin America, where they compete for the leadership inside the region.

Grupo Telefônica's market cap (US$ 64 billion) is smaller than América Móvil's (US$ 79.4 billion) due to of its bigger indebtedness (US$ 49.8 billion).

Telefônica Group has bigger global revenue, but loses to América Móvil when we consider only Latin America.

Note: América Móvil's revenue counting common revenues.

In Brazil, Telefônica/Vivo overtakes Claro/Embratel/Net in revenue, due to the mobile segment which represented 65.6% of its revenue gotten in the first semester of 2013. At América Móvil Brazil, the participation of mobile telephony reached 38.2% of the revenue in this period.

América Móvil surpasses Telefônica in number of mobile accesses in the world and in Latin America, but not in Brazil.

In number of fixed accesses (fixed telephones, fixed broadband and pay TV) América Móvil overtakes Telefônica in the world, in Latin America and in Brazil.

*Fixed Telephones, fixed broadband and pay TV.

Note: considers the total of fixed accesses in Brazil reported by Anatel, instead of the 30.8 million reported by A. Móvil.

Embratel/Net is the responsable for this result. América Móvil has today more fixed accesses in Brazil (25.4 million) than in Mexico (22.4 million).
