Groups leading Telecommunications in Brazil in 2013

 

In 2013, América Móvil Group consolidated itself in the leadership in number accesses and got close to the net revenue leader (Vivo).

 

SKY led in revenue growth and GVT in accesses growth and in profitability.

In the first quarter of 2011, Teleco started to follow the performance of Telecom groups in Brazil through selected indicators. Below, we present the results for 2013.

 

 

Number of Acesses: América Móvil is the leader

 

América Móvil (Claro, Embratel/Net) ended 2013 counting 95.0 million accesses (Revenue Generating Units - RGU) overtaking Vivo (92.4 million).

Vivo is the mobile accesses leader.

 

 

América Móvil is first in fixed accesses by holding 26.3 million of them, followed by Oi having 24.5 million.

 

 

Oi leads fixed telephones. América Móvil is first in pay TV and in fixed broadband.

 

 

Revenue: Telefônica is leader, but is threatened by América Móvil

 

Vivo is the biggest Telecommunication Group in Brazil registering net revenue of R$ 34.7 billion in 2013, but is being threatened by América Móvil (R$ 33.2 billion).

SKY leads revenue growth and GVT id the leader in accesses

 

SKY led in net revenue growth (19.2%) and GVT in accesses growth (19.0%) in 2013.

 

 

The six operators presented positive growth in revenue in 2013. Only GVT had bigger growth in number of accesses than in revenue.

 

 

Profitability: GVT remains in the leadership in EBITDA Margin

 

GVT kept the leadership in EBITDA margin in 2013 registering 41.4%, followed by Oi (33.7%) and by Vivo (30.5%). Only Oi presented growth in its EBITDA margin in 2013, due to the inclusion of Globenet's sale revenue. Oi's routine EBITDA margin in 2013 reached 26.7%.

 

Telefônica/Vivo presented the biggest profit in 2013 (R$ 3.7 billion), followed by TIM (R$ 1.5 billion) and by Oi (R$ 1.49 billion).
