The year started with smaller growth in comparison with 2014
2015 started by registering growth in January inferior to Jan/14. In Jan/15, the net adds of the main telecom services were inferior to what was presented in Jan/14.

In the following, Teleco analyses what occurred in each one of these services in Jan/15.
Mobile Telephony
Vivo led net adds in Jan/15 being the only operator, among the four main mobile telephony operator, to present growth in net adds in Jan/15.

Prepaid performance was responsible for Vivo's net adds growth in Jan/15, against a growth of 75 thousand prepaid accesses in Jan/14, the smallest growth for the segment in that month of the previous year.

Vivo, which presented negative net adds in prepaid in Dec/14 (-739 thousand), may have anticipated the shutdown of inactive prepaid accesses in this month in order to avoid paying Fistel tariff. It may have driven to fewer cancellations in Jan/15, with the consequent growth of net adds.
Inside postpaid segment, Vivo presented drop in net adds. In this segment the highlight was Tim, which had negative growth in Jan/14, and presented significative growth in Jan/15.

Despite the smaller growth in Jan/15, the transition from 2G technology (GSM) to 3G and 4G continues to be accelerated: 3G showed net adds of 4.2 million accesses, 4G of 1 million accesses and 2G of 4.3 million.
Fixed Broadband
In fixed broadband (SCM) segment, the four main operators presented reduction in net adds, with Oi and Vivo registering drop in the number of clients in Jan/15.

Embratel/Net and GVT continued, however, to lead growth.
Pay TV
In pay TV the main operators also showed reduction in their net adds.

The biggest drop in net adds happened in pay TV via satellite (DTH). Net adds fell from 107 thousand accesses in Jan/14 to 39 thousand in Jan/15.
In cable TV, net adds remained stable in 39 thousand accesses in Jan/14 and Jan/15.
Fixed Telephony
The same happened in fixed telephony. The main operators presented reduction in their net adds, exception of Embratel/Net.

Fixed telephony net adds in Jan/15 (80 thousand accesses) were, however, bigger than the net adds of Jan/14 (-111 thousand accesses). TIM, which presented net adds of 155 thousand fixed telephones in Jan/15, was the responsible for this result.
