Nextel conquered the leadership in 4G in Rio de Janeiro
Nextel ended 2015 as 4G leader in Rio de Janeiro (Area Code 21), with market share of 27.4%. The operator, which launched its 4G network in Jun/14 using 1800 MHz frequencies, overtook Vivo in Oct/15.

The focus Nextel kept on 3G operation was similar to the one kept on its "Radio" operation (iDEN): postpaid and metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. These regions concentrated, respectively, 43.0% and 41.2% of the 2.8 million postpaid mobile accesses operated by Nextel by the end of 2015.
In Rio de Janeiro (Area Code 21), Nextel is the third operator in postpaid market share, surpassing Oi and TIM in 2015.

In São Paulo (Area Code 11), Nextel ended 2015 counting 991 thousand postpaid mobile accesses, competing for the 4th position in postpaid market share with Oi.

In 2016, Nextel will launch the operation of its 4G network in São Paulo (11) using the frequencies of 1800 MHz acquired through the licitation that occurred in Dec/15, made by Anatel.
Nextel is 4th in the Brazilian postpaid market share (3.42%) and, even concentrating operations in markets in Rio and São Paulo, net adds were similar to TIM e Claro's in 2015.

In the process to increase Netxtel's mobile base, the operator can also count with the migration of clients from radio, that use iDEN (SME- Trunking) Technology, to 3G/4G network. In the end of 2015, Nextel had 2.5 million 3G/4G mobile accesses, growth of 65.8% in comparison with 2014.

The operator plans, however, to keep investing in its radio base that provides service to an important segment inside the corporative market.
After resuming growth, Nextel's challenge is to have profitable operations again. In 4Q15, the operator registered positive EBITDA again, but EBITDA margin (1%) needs to grow in 2016. NII, which is Nextel's controller sold other operations in Latin America and is concentrated now in Nextel Brasil.
