4G is the service that held the biggest growth in the first two months of the year

The first two months of 2016 show a continuity of the main trends observed in 2015:

Vivo was the leader in 4G net adds, Claro led postpaid and fixed broadband, TIM was first in prepaid and Oi nailed pay TV.

4G

Net adds reached +4.8 million mobile accesses in the first two months of the year, while 3G base lost 2.0 million mobile accesses and 2G 2.5 lost million.

Vivo led net adds, followed by TIM.

Postpaid

Claro was the net adds leader in this period overtaking Vivo. Nextel and TIM presented negative net adds.

Fixed Broadband

Inside the fixed broadband segment, Claro (Embratel/Net) and Vivo led net adds.

Claro is the market share leader (32.5%), followed by Vivo (28.8%) and Oi (25.0%). Oi presented zero net adds in the period.

Prepaid

TIM led prepaid net adds (1.1 million), while the other carriers have negative net adds inside this segment.

Despite the positive prepaid net adds, these results show that the reduction of prepaid base didn't finish after cutting 12.1 million prepaid accesses in December and can continue in 2016. March's net adds, last month of the quarter, will be a good indicator for this trend.

Pay TV

Oi led pay TV growth holding net adds of 8 thousand subscribers. Claro (Net and Claro TV) presented negative net adds.
