Teleco started monitoring the performance of Telecom Groups in Brazil in the 1st quarter of 2011 through selected indicators. The results for each indicator are presented below. Operators or groups that had net revenues in excess of R$ 2 billion in the country in 2020 were included in this analysis.

1) Revenue: Vivo is the leader

Vivo led in net revenue with R$ 10.8 billion in 1Q21, followed by Claro (R$ 9.8 billion).

Vivo is the leader in mobile revenue (R$ 7.1 billion) and Claro in fixed services revenue (R$ 5.2 billion).

Oi and TIM are practically tied in 3rd place. Without its mobile and DTH operations, considered to be discontinued operations, Oi's net revenue in the quarter would have reached R$ 2.2 billion.

2) Revenue Growth: Algar leads

Algar led in net revenue growth (3.5%), followed by TIM (3.0%) and Vivo (0.2%) in 1Q21, compared to 1Q20. Claro and Oi showed negative growth.

Note: Sky wasn't included in this comparison because its revenue was estimada by Teleco.

3) Mobile: Vivo is the leder in Market Share and Revenue

Vivo, leader in cellular market share in Brazil, gained market share. Claro (27.6%) presented the highest net adds (3.2 million) in 1Q21. TIM lost market share.

Vivo is also the leader in mobile net revenue. Claro, with the incorporation of Nextel, passed TIM in net revenue inside mobile segment in 2020 and remains in the second position.

Note: Oi didn't disclose this indicator in 1Q21

4) Fixed: Claro leads in Market share and Revenue

Claro is the leader in fixed services market share with a total of 25.5 million accesses in 1Q21. Competitive ranks second in fixed access market share, ahead of Oi and Vivo. Oi disputes with Vivo the third position.

Note: TIM and Algar were included in the Competitors Group for having a market share of less than 5% in fixed services.

Claro led net revenue from fixed services in 1Q21 with R$ 5.2 billion, followed by Vivo and Competitors. Vivo (-1.4%), Claro (-4.6%) and Oi (-7.0%) presented losses in this segment when comparing 1Q21 with 1Q20.

5) Fixed Broadband Market Share: Competitors

Competitors lead in fixed broadband market share in 1Q21 with 14.9 million accesses in 1Q21. This amount would have been higher if all providers that reported accesses in Dec/20 had also done so in 1Q21.

Note: Competitors are all operators, except Claro, Vivo and Oi. Algar and TIM were included in the competitors group because they have a market share of less than 5% in fixed broadband.

6) Pay TV Market Share: Claro

Claro maintained its leadership in pay TV in 1Q21 with 6.8 million subscribers and increased its market share to 47.3%, despite the loss of 226 thousand subscribers in the quarter.

7) Fixed Telephones Market Share: Oi leads

Oi maintained its leadership in fixed telephony market share with 9.3 million fixed telephones in 1Q21. Claro consolidated itself in second position ahead of Vivo in market share.

8) Profitability: TIM is the leader in EBITDA Margin

TIM maintained its leadership in EBITDA margin in 1Q21, but with a value close to that of Algar.

Note: The EBITDA Margin is considered to be routine or normalized. SKY does not disclose this indicator.

Oi showed a significant drop in the EBITDA margin when we compare 1Q21 with 1Q20.
