Since the end of 2021, Teleco considers those defined by Anatel as Small Size Providers (PPPs) as Competitive operators. Anatel considers Vivo, Claro, TIM, Oi and SKY as large providers.

In the 1st quarter of 2011, Teleco started monitoring the performance of Telecom Groups in Brazil through selected indicators.

The results for each indicator are presented below. This analysis includes Large and Competitive providers (PPPs), the last as a group of all of them.

1) Revenue: Vivo is the leader

Vivo led net revenue with R$ 44.0 billion in 2021, followed by Claro (R$39.4 billion) and Competitive operators (R$21.6 billion).

Vivo is the leader in mobile revenue (R$ 29.4 billion) and Competitives in fixed service revenue (R$ 19.0 billion).

2) Revenue Growth: Competitive operators led it

Competitive companies led net revenue growth (23.6%), driven by fixed broadband growth.

Oi presented negative growth.

3 and 4) Mobile: Vivo is the leader in Market share and Revenue

Vivo, mobile leader in Brazil, lost market share in 2021. Claro (27.7%) presented bigger net additions in the year. TIM kept losing market share.

By the sale of Oi Mobile, maintaining the 2021 percentages, Vivo would have a 37.9% market share, Claro 32.8% and TIM 26.8%.

Vivo was also the leader in mobile net revenue.

5) Fixed: Claro is the Market Share Leader

Claro is the leader in fixed services market share with a total of 25.3 million accesses in 2021 (29.4%), closely followed by Competitive (28.2%).

6) Fixed: Competitive Operators led revenue

Competitive operators led fixed services net revenue holding R$ 21.6 billion in 2021, overtaking Claro (R$ 20.4 billion).

7) Fixed Broadband Market Share: Competitive Operators

Competitive companies stood out in terms of fixed broadband market share in 2021 with 19.3 million accesses and almost the double of the market share (46.7%) of the second place, Claro (23.5%).

8) Pay TV Market Share: Claro

Claro, Pay TV leader, kept losing market share in 2021.

Oi's market share gain is associated with the fact that Anatel has started to consider as pay TV the approximately 2.5 million DTH users who purchased the reception kit (antenna, decoder and installation) but do not pay for the services, having access only to open TV channels and the mandatory ones. Oi, which got about +1.7 million and Claro with about +800 thousand were the main beneficiaries of this change.

9) Fixed Telephones Market Share: Claro was the Leader

Claro surpassed Oi in fixed telephony market share and took the lead in 2021 with 30.3% market share and 8.7 million fixed telephones.

10) Profitability: TIM Leads EBITDA Margin

TIM maintained its leadership in EBITDA margin, followed by Vivo and Claro.

Note: EBITDA Margin is considered routine or normalized. SKY does not disclose this indicator.
