Tim is controled by Telecom Italia. In 2007 Telefonica acquired stake in Telecom Itália which was approved in 10/23/07 by Anatel under restrictions.

 

In 2009, TIM acquired Intelig, national long distance company which had its incorporation concluded in December/09.

 

In 2011, TIM acquired AES Atimus which had a big fiber network inside metropolitan region of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for R$1.6 billion.

 

In 2012, TIM Fiber started to operate aiming to provide high speed fixed broadband inside the metropolitan regions os e Rio de Janeiro.

 

 

Coverage

 

Tim has coverage to National Cellular in Brazil consolidated through providers of Band A and B (TDMA and GSM) and GSM. These providers were consolidated in 2005 in Tim Participações.

 

TIM also has authorization to provide service of National and International Long Distance in the whole country. (Operator's code: 41). In Jun/07, Tim received Anatel's authorization to provide local fixed telephony in Brazil.

 

 

Technology

 

Tim implanted a GSM network in the Bands A and B using the subband extension that that was gotten. It offered services of datas through its GSM network using technology GPRS/EDGE. In 2008, the company started to operate its 3G network using the acquired frequencies in 1,9 GHz/2,1 GHz.

Oct 2004 Accomplished the incorporation of Tele Nordeste Celular (Tim Nordeste) by Tim Participações (Tim Sul).
May 2004 Announced incorporation of Tim Nordeste by Tim Sul.
Sept 2004 Anatel approves joint of Maxitel and Tim Celular
Feb 2006 Tim Participações turns up to have the control of Telecom Italia cell phone operations in Brazil, also started to control Tim Celular.
Jun 2006 Finished to reorganize its partnership with the addition of Tim Sul and Tim Nordeste by Tim Celular.
06/30/2006 Tim Participações cancelled the public offers of its shares.
2007 Telefonica acquired a participation in Telecom Italia. The shareholders wait, however, the Anatel's prior approval before conclude the operation. Claro requested to see to Anatel's internal documents that rules the administrative process for approval made by TIM Brasil and Participações S/A, to acquisition, through consortium leaded by the Telefonica group, of participation in Telecom Italia S.p.A. Anatel denied access to this documentation.
Jun/07 Tim received Anatel's authorization to provide local fixed telephony in Brazil.
Sep/08 Tim decided to get into fixed telephony market by offering a telephone which is just fixed. The company could already offer it, since October, TIM Casa Flex, service which gathers a fixed number and a mobile one in the same chip and cell phone.
03/16/09 TIM Participações S.A. and Docas Investments informed on 03/16/09 an incorporation agreement between TIM PART, its shareholder controler, TIM Brasil Serviços and Participações S.A. and JVCO Participações Ltda. with Docas, in order to negotiate the purchase of Intelig Telecomunicações Ltda (indirect control).This acquisition will be carried out through the incorporation of Holdco Participações Ltda. by TIM PART.
