Bid for Exploration of Brazilian Satellite

- Anatel collected R$ 183.7 million in the bid for 4 orbital positions for geostationary satellites held on May 26th, 2015.

- Telesat got 2 orbital positions (R$ 84 million), and Star (R$ 44.1 million) and Hispamar (R$ 50.3 million) each.

- Anatel raised R$ 153.15 million with the bid held on 05/06/2014, for 3 satellite orbital positions, which were purchased by Hispamar for R$ 65 million (Ku Band) and SES, which won 2 positions for R$ 33 million (C, Ku and Ka bands) and R$ 26.8 million (Ku band).

 

 

Star One C3 launched

On 11/10/2012, Star One, a subsidiary of Embratel, launched the Star One C3 satellite from Kourou, in French Guiana. The investment for the construction of C3 was US$ 260 million.

 

 

Anatel auctioned satellite exploration rights for R$ 254.4 million

On August 30th 2011, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) auctioned for four satellite exploration rights for R$ 254.4 million.

The company HNS Americas Comunicações Ltda offered R$ 145.2 million for the first exploration right.

The best offer for the second right was presented by Star One S.A. with a cost of R$ 37 million.

The third right also received a proposal from Star One S.A., in the amount of R$ 37 million.

The company HNS Americas Comunicações Ltda offered R$ 35.2 million for the fourth right.

 

 

STAR ONE S.A.: Net profit of R$ 185.3 million in 2010

Star One closed 2010 with a net revenue of R$ 486.2 million, an increase of 11% in relation to 2009.

Operating profit before financial result was R$ 29 million, equivalent to 60% of net revenue, representing an increase of 24% in relation to 2009, mainly due to the sale of new existing capacities in the company's new satellites.

Net profit in 2010 reached R$ 185.3 million.

 

 

Hispasat Group: Revenue of €150.8 million in 2009

Hispasat Group presented revenue of €150.8 million and profit of €70.6 million in 2009.

American countries, including Brazil, were responsible for 32.7% of the Group's revenue in 2009. This result was promoted by the launch of Amazonas 2.

 

 

Loral Skynet won the right to satellite exploration

Loral Skynet of Brazil got, in November 22nd 2007, the right to explore the Brazilian satellite for the transportation of telecommunication signals.

The new satellite will cover 100% of the Brazilian territory, including territorial sea and islands, and will operate band Ku from 11.45 to 12.2 GHz and 13.75 to 14.5 GHz. The orbital position of the Geostationary satellite will be 63º W, the same occupied by the satellite Estrela do Sul operated by Loral.

The value offered was R$ 1.938 million and resulted in a premium charged of 23.43% on the minimum price of 1.570 million established by edital. The new satellite might start operating in 4 years. Anatel homologated the result in Feb/08.

 

 

Telecom Itália wins the right to satellite exploration

In December 8th 2007, Telecom Itália S.p.a won in Anatel two authorizations to partial exploration of foreign satellite in Brazil from 2011 to 2012. "Satamatis Brasil Comercialização de Segmento Especial" is representing the operator for the operation of this service in Brazil.
